Klaus has been working in the design field in various disciplines for about 25 years. After studying architecture at RWTH Aachen University, he worked for an agency in Cologne-Ehrenfeld, where he looked after international clients. Since 2010 he has worked independently as a designer, publicist and lecturer, from 2012 to 2019 as co-founder and creative director of the corporate design and publishing agency BUERO ZOO and since 2019 together with Simon Roth with Serve and Volley, a studio for graphic and interaction design in Cologne.
In 2008, he co-founded the society magazine FROH! as its art director. In 2013, this work led to the Publish Yourself! workshop series, which aims to support young designers and publicists in making their message accessible to the public. These workshops have resulted in print and online publications in Georgia, Moldova, Estonia, Lithuania, Armenia, Ukraine, Russia and Germany.
From 2014 to 2017 Klaus taught communication design at the Ruhrakademie in Schwerte, in 2016/17 as a visiting professor at the "Klasse Grafik" of Prof. Ingo Offermanns at the HFBK Hamburg, in 2019 as a lecturer in the Master "Editorial Design" of the FH Dortmund and from 2018 to 2020 as a substitute professor for "Design and Conception" at the Hochschule Hamm-Lippstadt.
Since October 2020, he has been teaching as a professor for "Media Design with a focus on Interactive Media" at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences – Hochschule Braunschweig/Wolfenbüttel, where he heads the Institute for Media Design (IMD).
